Thunder Mountain looms over the little town of Sedona, Arizona. Also known as Capitol Butte or — and this is my favorite — Greyback, you can see it for miles. I can see it from the hilltop in my community ten miles south of Sedona. It’s a commanding presence. Dwarfed beneath it is Chimney Rock, a three-pronged spire of red sedimentary rock. I’ve painted Chimney Rock many times, but never from this vantage point.
